Week From Tomorrow!!

Okay, we take back anything we said last night about Lufthansa. Maybe the woman who was helping us was having a bad day…. We began our day by getting our tickets – Thank God!!! And, low and behold – we got on the very flight that was full as far as we were told. We are very grateful for that. Thank you for your prayers. After we got those things in order we had to wait until Edward got up from his nap in the afternoon to see him. He was so excited to see us (Dad, especially). The caregiver told us that he had been waiting for us to come. She took us back in the playroom and he saw us and came running. That was cool. His caregiver put on some cute clothes (no tights or pink roses) before we took him to another area to play. We got another glimpse at his tiny little legs. We just wanted to squeeze him he’s so cute. He was fascinated, as was Jenna Leeza, with a yellow bag I carry with us. He took everything out of the back pack and put it in the yellow bag and carried it around. Then he would take it out and put it back over and over. I hate to admit that he was running to us at one point and fell and bumped his poor little head (sorry Grandma’s, grandpa’s and Aunt Sally). We’ll try to make sure he doesn’t run again…… : ) After our time with us we had to give him back. We’re counting down the days until we do not have to do that anymore. Having such a short amount of time and being on someone else’s turf is hard as you all can imagine.

After returning home I had the pleasure of joining two super people, Laura and Ira, (and kids) to have a pedicure. It may be the last one for a while. They had the lady actually come to us which was nice. We tried to get Jeff to join the fun but I think he was having more fun keeping the kids company instead of the toe thing. He was a good sport though. Boys – you know your dad is bored to tears if he is joining me in such places! I know he cannot wait to get home and throw the ball, watch some manly man sports and eat ice cream with you both. That actually sounds like heaven to me, too!

So tomorrow we will be getting some things for the kids (like strollers and a few odds and ends) and then we’ll be getting ready for a visit from my sister in laws’ (Olga) mom from Sevastopol. That will be very nice to have her here and introduce her to both kids. I just hope she’ll survive the car ride! Again, thank you for all your thoughts and comments. It makes us feel like you guys are with us in a sense. To think we will not have to explain a lot of this journey because you all ready know! Sally, I know the football team must be a huge disappointment to you. We’ll send some of the guys from Swansboro and just say they are exchange students! Dad, it was good to talk to you last night – hope you are feeling better. Boys, we were so sorry not to have been able to get your call successfully. Sometimes the phones just don’t get good reception. We sure are counting the days, minutes and hours until we see you guys next week. I just hope we don’t squeeze you so tight that we can’t let go! We should be driving up Oyster Bay Road by late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning. Mary, in case I forget – could you call Animal House and tell them we’ll get Lilly on Friday? And Char – I need you to please take care of a couple bills – just email me personally or call me from our house and I will fill you in. Mary, Cathy and Pamela, thanks for your kind words. They mean a lot. Aunt Sally, you see the following of fans on this board who eagerly await your comments – I think you’ll have just enough time to construct your own website, Daily Musings from Aunt Sally. It is sure to be hit! You can post the link here. We love you all and cannot wait to be back home again. Good night sweet boys, we send our love and hugs and kisses to you! One more week!

  • Oh my! I feel so popular, it almost makes up for all those years you guys thought I was a bad person, and the Cowboy's humiliating defeat last night. I know you guys are going to be so busy after you get home, but I really do want to stay in contact better. Two or three phone calls a year is not going to cut it anymore. I have my Beth Moore class tonight. I am hoping to get close enough to tell her about you guys. I can't promise anything, but you know how pushy I am. Pray for us. It looks like Rita is heading straight for us. There are no available hotels between Houston and Dallas, so the people trying to leave Galveston have no place to go. We are on the north side of Houston, so we should be okay. I'll keep you posted. Not sure I have enough musing for a daily blog, but I am flattered by my fan base. Only friends of the 6 J's would get my humor. If your ever in Houston....

  • I know this is the 6 J's blog, but Sally, I will be praying for you all down there....how does a monthly column sound?

  • Hi J & J,
First off...let me say if I have offended anyone please forgive...
I understand this blog is for the 6 J's...allow me to tell you a little about 2 of the J's
I met Jennie and Jeff in Kiev in July 2005. We were trying to get back to the states on a early morning flight which was cancelled..what transpired from there is too long to get into here.
I had been up all night on a ride back to Kiev from Chernivtsi in a cab no less ( about 7 hours) The last thing I wanted to happen was to get stranded in the Ukraine. Especially because Lufthansa would not back my flight up a few days so I could stay longer, they said it wasn't possible.
GOD had a different plan, for all of us..The 2 J's despite the problem of trying to get a flight home were both positive and happy people(also friendly)
Now I'll tell you why I didn't forget them ( this is for Jenna Leeza and Joseph Edward) while in the Airport in Washington D.C. waitng on connecting flights. Jeff B. brought over his laptop to share with me the photos of trip and family at home. The Screen on the laptop could have had anything, but it had a cross and a picture of Christ. I knew right then that these were 2 different people. In a world where people excercise their love for Christ only on Sunday, I was truly impressed.
So I have kept up with the rollercoaster journey back to the Ukraine to get Jenna Leeza and Joseph Edward. I have been blessed to watch as the 4 J's became 6. It was also a blessing when today's news was positive about the airline tickets. ( remember Isaiah 65:24)
    I too have a life....
I am just a man, far from perfect, through GOD's grace was given the chance to meet your family(part of it at least).....I consider myself blessed.
    Jeff E.

We are counting the days with you!
I would love to be at your side when Jacob and Justin meet their new brother and sister for the first time. We know your hearts will be filled with love and joy! We pray that you will have a safe trip home with your darling children. Take care and God Bless!

  • Hi J&J,

I, too, would like to send some prayers from up here in Pittsburgh to Sally down in Texas. Hopefully Rita won't hit anyone too hard. It seems like that would be the absolute last thing anyone down there needs at this point. We're sorry about the Cowboys loss. The Steelers are actually doing really well, but all that could change on Sunday. The whole city gets incredibly depressed when they're not doing well, so Mondays are always better after a big win
    ;-)!!!

Also, I wanted to tell Jeff E. that my husband and kids and I wholeheartedly agree with his assessment of the capital Js. They are just two of the most sincere, generous, and truly awesome people, and we're so blessed to have such good friends in our lives.

And, finally, to the four Js in Ukraine: Just one more week!!! I'm sure you're counting down the hours till you're all together. Your experience has been really amazing, and thank you so much for sharing it with us. The Adventures of the Brooks Family in Ukraine is the most interesting thing on the computer, and I'm anxious to read the blog that says you're all home, safe and sound, once and for all.

    We love you guys,

    Mandy Eddie Liam Dayna

  • Okay, not only is my TV not working well, but the computer seems to be acting up too. I sincerely meant what I just wrote, although I did not mean to post it twice. Just think of it as double the prayers and happy thoughts for the day!

  • Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!… I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little.

    Philippians 4:4,12 NLT

J & J, I thought you would find this scripture pertinent and interesting...seemed to fit on many levels.
I wept over Jeff E.'s email...what a beautiful memory to share and to be able to share with your kids....who knows what good and mighty things (besides bringing J.E. and J.L. home to be with you all - and our community!)God has done through this experience...who knows? He cause all things to work together for good... I hope today is joy-filled and contains many God-moments! I saw your sweet Jacob yesterday....he was tossing the pigskin (is that the right slang for football?- I guess I better learn this stuff If I am going to meet Aunt Sally next summer! ha ha)
    Love,

  • 6 J's,
Wow! You have the sweetest friends. Thank you so much for the numerous prayers. Please keep them coming. Rita is picking up steam (now a category 4) and heading right at us. I hate to ask for prayers as many of you are still in the process of cleaning up after your own hurricane, but I am afraid this might get pretty bad. Apparently, we live on a 100 year flood plain. (They don't tell you that when you're buying the house.) Please also pray for the thousands of people that are now living in shelters in and around Houston because they lost everything in Katrina.
On a lighter note, sweet little Joseph looked precious in the newest pictures. Give Jenna a big hug for me today, and tell her Auntie Sally loves her.
I didn't get to talk to Beth Moore last night, but I did pray for you guys. We had a special prayer time about Rita. I am sure Rita is no match for Beth Moore, so I threw in some for you too.
    Sally

  • you are right, Joseph did look especially cute in those new pictures!!! Consider yourselves prayed for Sally!!! And you are right, Rita is up against a lot if Beth Moore prayed!!! Wow, she is a warrior!
